I’ve just started setting up a new site which is based around news and the financial markets, we decided to got with the Newswire Theme from Theme Junkie, loving how simple it is to use. 

The template is ideal for serious topics, where you want to project an image of importance.  Simple search and replace of the CSS and the colors can change from red to blue to green or what ever you want.

The really nice thing about this theme is if you insert an image into the post, it automatically places it as a thumbnail on the home page, no custom fields.
